CO-OP NEWS

Sorry I have been shirking my responsibilities as Co-op Coordinator this week. My family has been busy from sun up til sun down these past few days. I usually try to catch up on emails and co-op business in the evenings after the kids go to bed but lately I’ve just been too worn out from all of our running around. I apologize for not getting back to those of you that have sent emails or left voice messages. I will answer you as soon as I get caught up.

Last call for summer vegetable shares…



The Moss Hill Farm Summer Vegetable CSA starts this week and runs for 12 week. Today is the last possible day to sign up so if you are interested you need to call me or Floyd ASAP. You can read all the details here. If you are getting sick of the leafy green vegetables from the Spring share, don’t worry. The summer CSA season has the most variety. You can see a picture of one of our summer shares from last year. Unfortunately, it does not look like I will have any extra shares to sell week-to-week this season, so the only way to get Moss Hill Farm veggies is by signing up now and paying in advance.


Just in time for Memorial Day Weekend…



This Thursday before co-op pickup we are making natural sunscreen and essential oil bug repellent. Brandon Follett, owner of From Mimi’s Mountain Home, will be here with the ingredients and recipes from 1:00pm – 3:00pm. You are welcome to stop in and bring the kids. Invite a friend if you want. There is no charge to participate, just pay (wholesale prices) for whatever supplies you use. If you can’t come and make your own this week, Brandon will have sunscreen and bug spray for sale in The Market at regular price starting next week.


Grilling season is here, time to stock up on meat…



Please welcome Joyful Noise Acres back to the co-op. We have bought from them in the past and even took a group tour of their farm last year. What a beautiful place they have! It really lives up to it’s name with happy animals living on lush pasture. Go check out their listings for pasture raised chicken and pork. You will find them in The Market under the MEAT & POULTRY category. You can even save a few bucks with a meat box. Joyful Noise Acres now has a large box with various cuts of chicken and pork, a total of 12-14 lbs for only $70. I’ve ordered a box for myself to take camping this weekend.


Speaking of camping… While I normally open my house and yard to visitors all day Thursday during co-op pick, we won’t be able to visit very long this week. You are welcome to come hang out early in the day while we are making sunscreen and bug spray but after about 4:00pm I need to focus on making dinner and packing for our trip. If you are picking up after 4:00pm please just help yourself. Knock on the door if you have any questions and I will be happy to help.
