CO-OP NEWS

I know you are all wondering about the future of the Melody Lane Co-op. As I announced a couple of weeks ago, I cannot continue hosting the co-op pick up at my house every week. For the sake of my family I needed to scale back on my co-op activities but there was also something else in the works. Now I can finally fill you in on all in on the details…

I am happy to announce that I am the new chapter leader for the North Fulton County chapter of the Weston A. Price Foundation. We will have monthly meetings with topics that relate to traditional, nutrient-dense foods and the work of Dr. Weston A Price. I have decided to continue coordinating group orders for some of the harder to find items through the Melody Lane Co-op website with pick up being only once a month in conjunction with our Weston A. Price chapter meeting. The Q’s and A’s section of the co-op website has been updated with the specific details.

Our first meeting is Saturday, July 13th at 7:00pm at my home in Roswell. The topic is Raw Milk. I hope you will be able to join us. You can find out more and RSVP at the Atlanta Real Food Meetup Group.

I realize that once a month is not going to be enough to cover all of your food needs. Fortunately, we are blessed with many options for fresh, locally grown food in our area. Below you will find a list of local resources.

Carlton Farm
You can buy raw milk, cheese, eggs, meat, vegetables, and more directly from Carlton Farm. They have several drop off locations around Greater Atlanta.

Deerfield Co-op
This is a brand new co-op, similar to the Melody Lane Co-op. In fact, one of our vendors – BeeBerry Farm (eggs, honey, berries, soaps) is now selling through the Deerfield Co-op. Their pick up is Wednesday afternoons.

Natures Garden Delivered
Get organic fruits, vegetables, meat, dairy, and more delivered right to your front door. What could be more convenient than that??

Local Food Stop
Fresh, locally grown vegetables delivered to several drop off locations around this area.

There are several traditional farmers’ markets around:
Farmers’ Market at Sweet Apple Village (Roswell/Alpharetta, Thursday afternoons)
Riverside Farmers’ Market (Roswell, Saturday morning)
Alpharetta Farmers’ Market (Saturday morning)
Marietta Square Farmers’ Market (Saturday and Sunday)

As well as other virtual farmers’ markets on the Locally Grown network. Some of these markets may be a little out of your normal driving range, but they are well worth the drive. They work just like the Melody Lane Co-op, order online and then pick up your order at the designated pick up time and place.

I am sure there is someone I missed. In case the above information is not enough, Local Harvest is a great website to find local farms, farmers markets, and events. http://www.localharvest.org/

Thank you all for your encouraging words and continued support! I am looking forward to what the future holds.
