CO-OP NEWS

This is my favorite time of year! New life is popping up all around and fresh food is becoming more readily available. Our first delivery of vegetables from Moss Hill Farm is this week. Even if you did not sign up for the CSA this season you should come on over to my house on Thursday to take a peek at these beautiful vegetables. While you are here you can say hi to our newest co-op member, Dena Place, and see all the wonderful things she has to offer. If the weather is anything like it was this weekend we will be hanging out outside while the kids run around the yard.

Many of you have asked recently so we will be placing a group order for Green Pasture products (fermented cod liver oil, high vitamin butter oil, coconut oil, etc.). More details below.

Hope to see you on Thursday :)

Sandra

FRESH & LOCAL

Good Shepherd Herbals ~ www.GoodShepherdHerbals.com

Please welcome Dena Place, owner of Good Shepherd herbals, to the Melody Lane Co-op. We will start with a once a month delivery on the 2nd Thursday of every month and add more if there is enough demand. This week is our first delivery so go ahead and place your orders now. Dena will be at my house this Thursday at 3:00pm and will stick around to answer any questions you may have.

Good Shepherd Herbals provides herbal salves, goat’s milk soaps and medicinal tea blends made with care on their family farm, Father’s Bounty Homestead, in Canton, Ga. These are natural care alternatives to the commercial chemical laden products found in most stores. They use chemical free milk from their own Saanen does to make the soaps which are cold pressed and handcut. All of their goat’s milk soaps are gentle and emollient; safe for infants, the elderly, and those with skin issues. The various herbal salves are made in small batches. The herbal infusion process takes 14 days with special attention given to consistant temperatures and purity. Their original medicinal tea blends are made using certified organic herbs from Mountain Rose Herbs and sold loose in 4 ounce bags.

Winter CSA Moss Hill Farm ~ www.MossHillFarm.net

Our fresh vegetable CSA starts on April 11th!  Pick up is at my house from 3:00pm – 7:00pm. Floyd will be dropping off a few minutes before 3:00pm so if you would like to talk to him or ask any questions please try to be here early to catch him before he leaves. If you have already signed up and paid your deposit for the Spring season Floyd will be sending you an email will more details about what to expect in your share this week.

Pre-paid spots for the Spring CSA are sold out but you can still sign up for Summer, Fall, and/or Winter. Read all the details here

I have one extra vegetable share available this week for $42. It is listed in The Market under FRESH & LOCAL. If you want it, you’d better order now before it’s gone! Since this is our first week I don’t know exactly what all will be in there. From what I remember last year it should be at least 10 different varieties including green leafy vegetables, onions, and possibly some radishes.

From Mimi’s Mountain Home ~ www.FMMHome.com

This week I will be taking a tour of the production facility that makes all of the From Mimi’s Mountain Home products (aka Brandon’s kitchen) and he says he’s going to put me to work. I’m looking forward to it and will let you all know how it goes. If you haven’t already, why don’t you show Brandon some love by liking his facebook page.
