CO-OP NEWS

You may have noticed the co-op emails have been shorter lately and are coming out later and later each week. It is becoming obvious to me, and especially to my family, that I just have too many things on my plate at the moment. The load will not be getting any lighter as we prepare to start homeschooling “for real” with 1st grade in the fall. I also have some other personal goals I am working towards that deserve my full attention.

So, after careful consideration, I have decided I cannot continue to host the Melody Lane Co-op at my house every week. We will finish out the month of June on the normal schedule with pick-ups every Thursday until June 27. After that I am considering going to a once-a-month schedule. Moss Hill Farm vegetable CSA members can continue picking up at my house through the end of the Summer season and we can discuss Fall and Winter as they approach.

A lot of work has gone into the Melody Lane Co-op to get it where it is today and I would hate to see it shut down completely. I think we have proven that there is a need for this kind of thing in our community. I personally just don’t have the time right now to keep it going. If anyone is interested in taking over the co-op or starting something similar please let me know. I will be happy to help you get started and share with you everything I have learned over the past couple years. This is the perfect opportunity for a stay at home mom (or anyone with a few extra hours per week) to help offset their family food budget and get involved in the local food community. If you are business minded and have more time to invest, I believe it has the potential to grow into a sustainable business.

This was a difficult decision for me but it is what is best for my family. Thank you for understanding. I still plan to remain as active as I can in the local food community, especially with Weston A. Price Foundation events so please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions you may have.
